Position Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Loan Processing:

  • Performs administrative activities related to setting up and advancing commercial loans; prepares required documentation for loan transactions; verifies, registers, renews, discharges and administers all required security and searches.
  • Reviews Solicitor’s final reports to ensure compliance with commitment letter instructions enters relevant information into banking system.
  • Creates and maintains Schedule of Security for all commercial loan accounts.
  • Creates and maintains commercial loan files in good order and follows up with member or commercial account manager as necessary to ensure adherence to risk management and policy parameters. Confers with Commercial Credit Management as appropriate.
  • Supports commercial account managers by communicating with solicitors, issuing renewal letters, tracking annual review dates and receipt of information.
  • Assists with the annual review for all commercial loan files to ensure they are appropriately authorized and documented.
  • Maintains control of member loan filing and the overall quality and condition of commercial loan files.
  • Completes all correspondence/ transcribes, keys data and files documentation as necessary
  • Assists with update of and initiation of the generation of a variety of loan reports including all internal reporting for the department and government and insurance reporting.
  • Prepares account opening documents, identifies member needs and promotes credit union products and services and refers to account managers/ specialists to assist with complex needs.
  • Represent the credit union regularly and positively in the community.
  • Must be proactive in continuing education and upgrading in order to keep up to date with changes in the industry relating to job function.
  • Sundry duties as assigned.

Reporting:

  • Assists with update of and initiation of the generation of a variety of loan reports including all internal reporting for the department and government and insurance reporting.

Member Service:

  • Prepares account opening documents, identifies member needs and promotes credit union products and services and refers to account managers/ specialists to assist with complex needs.

General:

  • Represent the credit union regularly and positively in the community.

Qualifications Required

Education:

  • Successful completion of grade 12.
  • Prefer business diploma or post secondary diploma in business related field.
  • Graduation from or active participation in Cu-Source Commercial Lending Administrator Accreditation Program.
  • Minimum 3-5 years credit union experience and/or experience gained externally in financial services industry.
  • Prefer experience in commercial services or previous lending environment.
  • Credit Union philosophies and principles, products and services including knowledge of lending.
  • Excellent working knowledge/competence with Credit union banking system.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements with regard to lending.
  • Knowledge of procedures regarding credit bureaus, PPSA and Land Titles searches and registration.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management requirements.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management/prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced time sensitive environment.
  • File maintenance/records management skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years credit union experience and/or experience gained externally in financial services industry.
