Taras Pidzamecky

Chief Executive Officer

Taras Pidzamecky, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel, has been with UCU since 1987. He joined the company as its Corporate Solicitor, becoming Executive Vice President in 1996 and CEO in 1999.

Taras holds an LL.B. and an LL.M. in Banking and Financial Services from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the bar in April 1987. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science and Ukrainian language and Literature from the University of Toronto.

Taras is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and Ukrainian National Federation of Canada of which he is National President. He has served on the Working Committee for the Technical Review of the Ontario Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, 1994 (1998-1999) and as an industry representative to the Ontario Credit Union Legislative Reform Committee (1993).

Taras has been active in the revival of Ukraine’s credit union since 1989 an is currently a working group member in the Ukraine Credit Union Development Assistance Program (UCUDAP).  Related work included  formulating legislative and lobbying initiatives in Ukraine (1999), consulting Ukraine`s Standing Committee on Finances and Banking (1995), and developing regulations and by-laws for the credit union industry in Ukraine (1994).
