Lesya Babiy

Manager of Business Services

Lesya joined UCU as a Part-Time Member Services Representative in October 2006 at our Mississauga Branch, becoming a full-time MSR in July 2007.  From February to August, 2008 Lesya worked as Administrative Support Representative in the Finance department before returning to Mississauga in September 2008 where she was promoted to Member Services Officer.  In 2010 she took on the role of Loans Officer at our Bloor Branch, before again returning to Mississauga in 2011 where she was appointed Acting Branch Manager, a position which became permanent in June 2014.  In the Mississauga Branch Manager role, Lesya excelled as a product expert, sales leader and coach, and also served on the inter-departmental Service Charge and Membership Working Groups.

In October of 2018, Lesya took on a secondment assignment as Project Leader to research and develop a Small Business Strategy proposal for UCU which included visits and meetings with other credit unions and potential suppliers to gather information and experiences. This led to Lesya becoming our credit union’s representative to the Canadian credit union industry’s commercial banking committee, CUBOS.  Lesya’s successful completion of the back-to-back secondment assignments, laid the foundation for her promotion to the new position of Manager of Business Services.

In April 2022 Lesya join the Contact Centre team to continue her leadership role. As a manager, she will lead the growth expansion of UCU Member Contact Centre, influence and shape the future of members communication.
