What Are Membership Shares?
Membership shares are not a fee. Every UCU member holds $150 in membership shares, which makes you a member and part-owner of the credit union. Your shares stay in your share account for as long as you are a member.5 During this offer, UCU deposits the $150 for you as a welcome gift.

How to Take Advantage of This Offer
At a branch:
Visit any of our 16 Ontario branches between August 22 and September 17, 2026 and mention this Independence Day Offer when you open your account.
01This offer is available to individuals who become new personal members of Ukrainian Credit Union Limited (“UCU”) between August 22 and September 17, 2026, at any UCU branch and quoted the Independence Day offer at the time of application.
02Approved new members will have their $150 membership shares funded by UCU and deposited into their membership shares account as a gift once their membership begins. Membership shares are not a fee. They represent the member’s ownership stake in UCU and remain in the member’s share account for as long as the person is a member.
03The share account may show a zero balance until the deposit is processed. Please allow up to 10 business days from the date membership begins for the $150 deposit to appear.
04The promo code must be valid and active at the time of application. Applications submitted without the promo code may not qualify for the offer. If you became a member during the offer period and did not enter the code, contact the UCU Contact Centre at 1-800-461-0777.
05If membership is closed within three years of the date of opening, the gifted $150 membership shares will be reclaimed by UCU.
06Only one offer per eligible personal membership.
07This offer is available to new personal UCU members only and cannot be combined with any other UCU membership offer.
08Membership is subject to UCU’s eligibility and approval requirements, including identity verification. Applicants must reside in Canada and provide a valid Social Insurance Number. The online application is available to applicants 18 years of age or older. Applicants under 18 may become members at any UCU branch.
