It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of UCU Honorary Director for Life, Michael Shipowick, at the age of 102.

Mr. Shipowick was a longtime director of So-Use Credit Union and an active member of the Ukrainian Canadian cooperative movement. He was appointed honorary director by the UCU Board in 2010 after the merger with So-Use Credit Union. A successful business person, Mr. Shipowick earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan and worked for Ontario Hydro and Stelco before starting his own company, Celcius Inc.

Mr. Shipowick leaves behind a legacy of distinguished service to both UCU and the greater Ukrainian Canadian community.
