Natalia Lishchyna

Chair

Dr. Lishchyna became a member of the United Ukrainian Credit Union Ltd. In Hamilton in her early teens. She enjoyed serving the membership as a part-time Teller during her studies at McMaster University. Her affinity to the Co-Operative movement continued and she was elected to the UUCU Board of Directors becoming one of the youngest members of the Board. When Natalia moved to Mississauga with her husband she became a member of So-Use Credit Union. In 2010 and 2012, these credit unions joined the UCU family resulting in a strong, united, province-wide co-operative financial institution.

Natalia has been an active member of the Ukrainian community in Hamilton, Mississauga and currently where she resides in Oakville, Ontario. She was a member of the UNYF for many years and was a dancer with Chaika Dance Ensemble. She has traveled to Ukraine as part of the Children of Chornobyl organization to work at a children's camp. Natalia is a member of St. Volodymyr Catheral and previously served on the Church and Cemetery Boards. Natalia has also served on a number of community boards including Peel Children's Aid Society as well as two local charity boards in Oakville.

Professionally, Natalia is trained as a Chiropractor. She has also completed a Clinical Fellowship and a Masters of Science degree. Over the last 20 years she has held the appointment of Assistant Professor at CMCC and has trained chiropractic interns at a community teaching clinic in Oakville since 2006. She served her profession as a Board Director of the Ontario Chiropractic Association for 14 years including as President from 2011-2013. She was the second woman to serve as President in the Association’s 82-year history.

In 2015, Natalia was first elected to Oakville Town Council for Ward 6. She was re-elected by acclimation in 2018 for a four-year term. As a Member of Council, she currently serves on several Committees. On a personal note, Natalia has been married to Taras for over 23 years and they have two wonderful children.

She was first elected to the Ukrainian Credit Union Limited Board of Directors on April 18, 2017. She has served as the Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee for two years and currently holds the position of 1st Vice Chair. Natalia completed the Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management and received her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2019.
