Taras Rohatyn

Director

Taras (Walter) Rohatyn has been a Ukrainian National Federation member his entire life and has an extensive history of involvement in our Ukrainian community both locally and nationally. He was voted in as a Director of the Ukrainian Credit Union Ltd. at its 2017 AGM, and currently is Chair of the Donation, Sponsorship, Scholarship, Marketing & Member Service Committee (DSSMMS) and a member of the UCU Audit Committee.

Taras is semi-retired, but is actively consulting with small businesses that need financial, strategic and human resources advice. He is also the Chair of the UNF FOUNDATION, as well as the President of the Oshawa / Durham Branch of the UNF. He is a past Director of the National Executive of the UNF, and a past President of the Sudbury and Windsor UNF Branches. Taras was also a past Vice-President of the Ukrainian National Youth Federation, National Executive as well as the retired choreographer and instructor of the Windsor Barvinok Dance School and Ensemble, the Sudbury UNYF Veselka Dance Ensemble and a long standing tenor with the UNF Sudbury Dnipro Choir.

Taras has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History (minor in English) from Laurentian University, and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Windsor.

Taras has a broad and varied employment background which includes both banking (Scotiabank)and commercial credit (Roynat), the provincial government (WSIB Crown Corporation), and numerous not-for-profit charities (physical disabilities, Alzheimer’s, seniors and primary health care). He was also the Recipient of the Ontario Medical Society’s Community Service Award – 2002.

Taras is married to Debbie, has 2 adults children, Stephan and Natalia (Boyd) and one grandson Bennett.
